St Michael the Archangel, Alcombe - A Church Near You

Welcome to St Michael the Archangel! Thank you for visiting our ACNY page. This acts as our website, so everything you might want to know about us will be here, or you can contact us if not - details are to be found under “Get in Touch”. St Michael the Archangel is the parish church in the small town of Alcombe, adjoining Minehead in West Somerset. We are a community of people seeking to work out together what it means to follow Christ in our world today. We believe that this is something to do with knowing that we are God’s beloved children, a love revealed in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. This is expressed though us growing in love for God and neighbour and is reflected in how we care for the most vulnerable and the overlooked, both locally and globally, in seeking justice and peace for all, and in how we care for our precious planet and all of God’s beautiful creation. By the help of the Spirit, we seek to be faithful to this, acknowledging our fragility and rejoicing in God’s grace with love, with peace and with joy. SAFEGUARDING As part of Christ’s welcome to all, and in order that all who participate in our parish life feel safe, the parish of Alcombe is committed specifically to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Bath & Wells’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services. For more information please see our Safeguarding page. COVID-19 We want Christ’s welcome to all to be expressed by everyone feeling safe when they come and join us. So we are working hard to ensure that all public acts of worship are undertaken according to the current guidance - we provide hand sanitiser and encourate sensitivity to others in relation to close contact and the wearing of face coverings. For those who cannot gather physically with us, we also are offering a weekly letter with relevant information, the week’s readings and collect and a reflection, as well as recording the Sunday services and making it available on YouTube. See “Online Services” and “Online Services Archive”.
